Qualcomm/Eudora Technical Support is cluelessSo I started using a Mac a couple of weeks ago and of course moved a lot of my personal data over from the Windows box. I also tried that with my e-mail and since I use
Eudora since I don't know when (started back on a color classic), I thought the switch would be easy enough.
Moving form Mac to Windows is as easy as copying the Mailbox files, apparently not so if you go from Win to Mac with Eudora 6.0. Somehow they include import functionality for Claris Emailer and whatnot but not compatibility between Eudora and Eudora. I checked the Knowledge Base and FAQ on Eudora.com,
found a little blurb and tried just that. It wouldn't work. Knowing a thing or two about files (and programming) I tinkered with the mailbox files until Eudora 6 on the Mac would finally recognize it - it seems that besides adjusting the line breaks and removing the extension you also have to change the creator code.
That's when I decided to get in touch with Eudora Tech Support, something I'm entitled to as a registered user. The first e-mail anwer I received was from the automated responder, not too bad since it included the above mentioned KB article. Since I wasn't satisfied with that, I mailed to a "human-techrep" and since then I seem to be stuck in a loop. Every time I explain that their suggested solution doesn't work I receive an answer that states I should
try that. So far I have received
four different e-mails all giving me the same wrong information...
What triggered this posting was the latest e-mail from Eudora Technical Services - they are asking me to participate in a survey about my experience with their technical support. They better have a censor read my reply before somebody over there starts crying...
